About Me

Hi there! I’m Julia and I am a blogger and the soon to be host of two upcoming podcasts: “The Pocket Pep-Talk Podcast” and “The Pageant Pep-Talk Podcast”.

I am a crazy creative person (much to my husband’s dismay) and I own a small bespoke custom cake business. When I’m not working, or being crazy creative, I love spending time with my hubby and our two boys having adventures exploring the wonders of the Pacific Northwest.

And, when I’m not doing that, believe it or not, I’m a pageant girl!  Yep!  I like to call myself a “Tomboy-Glamour Girl” and currently compete in the Mrs. Washington America pageant as Mrs. Seattle.

Since 2017, I have also been a writer, journalist and podcast producer for Pageant Planet, the largest pageant resource website in the world!

What can you find here?

My blog and my podcasts are all about personal growth and development and life transformation.

Throughout my content you will find subjects covering topics such as:

  • Changing negative thinking
  • Overcoming self-defeating behavior
  • Conquering Addiction, Codependency & Toxic thinking
  • Improving Interpersonal Relationships
  • Self-Discovery – Finding your life purpose and discovering the unique values that will help you to create the life you want
  • Re-claiming your personal power

What’s important to me?

I value being a Truth Teller, A Coach, A Sharer of My Experience and an Encourager.

I see each reader or visitor as an individual and a potential friend. We are all flawed beings; however, I know that everyone has the power to change their old negative thinking and self-limiting beliefs so that they can become the person they want to be. But sometimes we cannot do that on our own… We occasionally need a bit of outside, objective help… a little pep talk, and a bit of compassion and encouragement will often do the trick.

My pep talks are the kind you might get from a good friend (if your friend was a really messed up person who has been through a lot of crap and was also a great listener and a psychology buff.) I’ve seen it all (or at least a lot of IT), made a ton of mistakes and have overcome a bunch of stuff in my life, but I’m still on the path to healing. …. think of me as a “Fellow Traveler” who may be a bit further down the road with some things and wants to lend you a hand to help you over your own hurdles (or give you a swift kick in the pants when you need to get out of that rut that you dug for yourself.)

My mission is to be an impactor NOT an “influencer”

I have no interest in impressing you, I just want to help you change your life!

Some Facts About Me

  • I was born in Juneau, Alaska (Juneau is the capital of Alaska by the way, but a lot of people assume that Anchorage is because it is the largest city in Alaska)
  • I was born on April Fool’s day – and yes, I am VERY good at pranks and practical jokes!
  • I am a night owl by nature, but I’m trying desperately to change that…meanwhile I don’t speak English until after I’ve had my morning coffee
  • I met my husband on eHarmony (and no we have never been asked to make a commercial)
  • I collect random facts about music (especially hard rock) and movies (I bet if I started playing trivia games at local bars, I’d become quite a celebrity)
  • The reason that I moved to Seattle, Washington was to start a modeling career
  • Cake is my favorite food, but it’s also my nemesis – I love to create beautiful cakes, but I hardly ever eat them.
  • When I was a young girl, I wanted to be a real kick A$$ chick – I loved watching episodes of old TV shows from the 70s because I was obsessed with their leading ladies. I loved shows like Wonder Woman, The Avengers (Diana Peel) and Policewoman (Pepper – played by Angie Dickenson)

I would love to hear from you!  If there is a topic that you’re like to hear more about, please let me know. And, if you want to subscribe to my email list, I promise I will NOT spam you. I will just let you know when there’s a new post and keep you aware of any upcoming opportunities.
