As an advocate of personal growth, self care and positive mental & emotional health, I am a big believer in using resources like music, books and movies to help people get themselves motivated, inspired and out of those pesky ruts that we sometimes find ourselves in.
The following is a whole collection of resources, broken down by the type of resources it is, that I put together to help you out during times of stress, depression, crisis or just the “blahs”.
Not all of the selections are going to be everybody’s cup of tea, but there might be something here that will help you out when you are in a dark place and need to know that you are not alone, or that will give you that bit of inspiration you need when you’re feeling stuck.
If you have any suggestions to add to any of the lists, please feel free to leave a comment or send me a note about it. I’d love to hear what you have to say!

Movies
When I am feeling down, discouraged or even just bored with say my workout routine, I often use movies to get myself pumped up and back on track. One of my favorite types of movies are biographies, especially those related to the arts or sports and athletics. (Rocky anyone?)
And, where else are you going to find cool, motivating quotes that are going to help you get through that last mile, or last rep, or even just get you out of bed?
Remember these great quotes from “Chariots of Fire”?
“I believe God made me for a purpose, but he also made me fast. And when I run I feel his pleasure.” ~ Eric Liddell
“You can glorify God by peeling a potato if you peel it to perfection.” ~Rev J.D. Liddell

I have been browsing online more than 3 hours today, yet I never found any attention-grabbing article like yours. Marylinda Erasmus Sari
Marylinda, I want to thank you so much for taking the time to leave a comment! I’m so happy that you found my blog and that you got something out of this article. I created it because there are times when I have felt down, depressed, anxious or just uninspired and it can be so difficult to get yourself out of those mental places all by yourself. I’ve discovered over the years that a beautiful song, a good book or an uplifting movie can change my emotional state and get me unstuck very quickly. It sounds like you spent a lot of time online today searching for something specific, and I’m honored that I was able to make a difference. What kind of articles would you like to see more of? Is there a topic or subject matter that you need help with or want some insight about? I’d love to hear from you.
Sincerely,
Julia
